Bradford Garland Barnes, age 87, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his home following a period of declining health.
Mr. Barnes was born in White County, GA June 5, 1928. He had lived in Lumpkin County since 1993 and had previously lived in Hall County for over 60 years. He was retired from the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. He was of the Baptist faith.
Bradford was the son of the late Travis Barnes and Della Tomlin Barnes and he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Nelson Barnes; brothers, Earl, Henry, and Harold Barnes; and sisters, Mildred Hammond and Frances Barnes.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-la, Bobby and Joan Stargel, Grayson, GA, Gary and Connie Barnes, Flowery Branch, GA, Billy and Sonya Barnes, Dahlonega, GA, David and Jacqueline Barnes, Ball Ground, GA, Joey and Terri Barnes, Cleveland, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Joe Payne, Oakwood, GA, Linda and David London, Gainesville, GA, and Sherry Crow, Cleveland, GA; brother, Johnny Fay Barnes; sisters, Mary Hazel Ledford, Cleveland, GA, and Tiny Stowe, Homer, GA; sister-in-law, Virginia Barnes, Demorest, GA. 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a large number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Barnes are scheduled for 1 PM Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.
Rev. Danny Park will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Assembly of God Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 4 PM until 8 PM and again on Thursday from 10 AM until 1 PM.
