Terry Wayne Grindle

Mr. Terry Wayne Grindle, age 68 of Murrayville. Wayne passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 with Rev. Steven Gerrells, Rev. Lyman Caldwell, Rev. Les Fuller, Rev. Phil Williams officiating. Eulogy will be presented by J.B.Jones. Wayne was born in Lumpkin County on November 10, 1947 to the late L.D.Grindle and Lucille Clark Grindle. He graduated Lumpkin County High School in 1965 and shortly after he entered the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. Following his military service, Wayne returned to Lumpkin County where was active in the family business, Grindle Family Dairy. Later, Wayne would own Lanier Livestock Auction, serve as a Company Representative for specialty oil companies. as well  as an Administrative Assistant for Lumpkin County Commissioner J.B. Jones, a self employed contractor, and later becoming associated with Alexander Funeral Home. Wayne had a keen interest in politics and government, particularly on a state and local level. This would be the catalyst for his desire to serve his community and help it grow and prosper. While serving with Lumpkin County, Wayne was the Project Officer for the Palm Sunday Tornado Cleanup, and assisted in the implementation of the solid waste management system for the Lumpkin County Landfill.Wayne served as Project Co-Ordinator for the Chestaee-Chattahoochee RC&D as well as liason for the Georgia Association of County Commissioners . He was also instrumental in establishing the Public Defender System for the Enotah Judicial Circuit as well as pursuing and receiving grants for the first computers for the Lumpkin County School System. Wayne was a past board member of the Association of Tennessee Valley Counties as well as  the Lumpkin County Building Authority and served as Past President of the Lumpkin County Farm Bureau. He was a current member of the Lumpkin County Development Authority. Wayne is survived by his wife, Wylene Ravan Grindle of Murrayville; son and daughter in law, Brian and Rachel Grindle of Fort Worth, TX; grandsons, Seth Grindle and Aaron Grindle of Fort Worth, TX; sisters Patsy Bryan (Alvin) of Murrayville and Sandra Grindle Smith also of  Murrayville; brothers, Donald Grindle (Sharon) of Murrayville and Danny Grindle also of  Murrayville; brother and sister- in- law, Ronnie and Jeannie Ravan of Gainesville, sister- in- law, Beth Grindle of Gainesville as well as a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 1:00pm. Flowers will be acknowledged, however it is requested that memorial donations be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2, specified for Fellowship Hall Construction,?  2721 Hwy 129 South, Cleveland, Georgia 30528
