Patricia “Pitty Pat” Spivey Cavanaugh, 73, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday November 25, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born November 6, 1942 in Atlanta to the late Rudolph and Lorraine Spivey, Mrs. Cavanaugh had been a resident of Dawsonville for 15 years. During her working career she spent 25 years with First Family Finance Company in Atlanta. A very active citizen of Dawson County, she had served as president of the Dawson County Woman’s Club and the Dawson County Arts Council. She was also a member of the Red Had Society and Blooming Idiots Garden Club. Mrs. Cavanaugh leaves behind many dear friends in the community. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Spivey.
Surviving are her husband, George Cavanaugh, Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, Jack and Alice Spivey, Stone Mountain; nieces and nephews, Jay and Dana Spivey, Atlanta, Meredith Spivey, Washington D.C., Paige and Michael Brooks, Athens, Robin and Howard Hudson, Atlanta, Stacey and Thomas Blackford, Atlanta; step-son, Scott Cavanaugh, Birmingham; a number of other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday December 5, 2015 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 12 noon until the service hour.
