Mr. Thomas Wendell Ansley, age 88 of Jordan Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.
A son of the late Powell and Emmie Ward Ansley, he was born April 17, 1927 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy World War II, was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as a maintenance supervisor, a barber and a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Ansley, Edwin Ansley and Ray Ansley and by a sister, Frances Collins.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Guynell Andrews Ansley of the home; son, Larry Ansley of Watkinsville, Georgia; two granddaughters and their husbands, Katie and Jason Hulett of Buford, Georgia and Laura and Calvin Allison of Cullowhee, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Reverend Ted and Joann Ansley of Tococa, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Jack Andrews of Morganton, North Carolina and Clarence and Joyce Andrews of Watkinsville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Joann and Everett Cox of Toccoa; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 29, 2 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. Roy Rogers officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from noon until the funeral hour.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Byran Ansley, Stanley Ansley, Doug Andrews, Mark Cox, Sam Duvall and Jerry Moore.
Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Reverend Dr. Jesse Colbert officiating. Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Thomas Wendell Ansley.
