Nelson Mark Keck, of Cleveland, Ga., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at his home. He was 63.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Connie Miller Keck; their children, Peter Thomas Keck, of Helen, and Amanda Elizabeth Keck, of Cleveland; and his mother, Betty Jane Keck, of Ohio.
Mark was an honest, loving and caring man with a heart of gold. A Cleveland resident since 1983, he ably and loyally served many locals at his business, Keck's Auto Repair, for many years. He enjoyed working with his hands and more recently, he and his wife operated a crafts business, Keck’s Kreations.
Mark grew up in Ohio and moved to Florida in his early 20s. There he was a member of the Martin County District II Fire Department in Stuart, where he met his wife. Their family was his pride and joy. The Kecks moved to Cleveland in 1983 with their son, and shortly after that, their daughter was born.
An avid reader and history buff, Mark never met a stranger and his life exemplified Christian values. In Cleveland, he was a member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.
He also is survived by his sister, Jeannie Scott (husband, Eric); three brothers, Thomas Keck (wife, Carol) of Ohio, Dan Keck (wife, Carol) of Ohio, and Mike Keck (wife, Georgia) of Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Norma Miller, of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Lisa Heller (husband, Robert) of Atlanta; brother-in-law, Bob Miller (wife, Cathy) of Anderson, S.C.; and a large and loving extended family.
Mark was predeceased by his father, the Rev. Thomas Richard Keck, a Methodist minister in Ohio, and his father-in-law, Robert P. Miller.
The family will welcome visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, at Barrett Funeral Home, 118 N. Brook St., Cleveland.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at Mossy Creek United Methodist Church, 2154 Post Road in Cleveland, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, with interment to follow at the Mossy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, located behind the church. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow.
