Mary (Lafon) Hooten Spencer

Funeral services for Mary “Lafon” Hooten Spencer, age 99, of Clarkesville will be held graveside on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM from the Jackson City Cemetery, Jackson, Georgia with Rev. Tommy Stowe officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. 

Mrs. Spencer passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 following a period of declining health. 

Born in McDonough, Georgia on March 12, 1916, Mrs. Spencer was the daughter of the late Waylon Wesley and Beulah Cowan Hooten.  She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and she worked at Piedmont Automotive and Clarkesville Mill.  Mrs. Spencer was an excellent seamstress and she enjoyed spending time with her loving family.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spencer is preceded in death by husband Tommie Lenon Spencer, daughter Susan Spencer-Wendel and daughter in law Theodora “Tee” Spencer. 

Survivors include sons Tom Wesley Spencer of West Palm Beach, Florida, David F. Spencer (Jacquline) of Satsuma, Florida and Jacky L. Spencer of Baldwin, grandsons Frank Spencer and Tony Spencer and granddaughters Tonya Spencer and Stephanie Spencer.?                                             ?
