Velza English Jones Rosetty Allison, age 94, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
Mrs. Allison was born September 18, 1921 in Demorest, GA to the late William Hilton and Stella Smith English. She attended Return Baptist and Fairfield Baptist Churches and was a life-time Gold Star Mother of Grant-Reeves VFW Post 7720 Auxillary. Mrs. Allison was the former owner of Velza’s Beauty Shop and retired owner of Clarkesville Record Sales. Velza and her husband, Pete Rosetty were among a small number of couples who helped raise funds to build St. Mark Catholic Church. Velza and Pete spearheaded and paid one-third of the total cost to build a monument on the square in Clarkesville to honor all the soldiers killed in action from Habersham County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Jones, Pete Rosetty and Walter Allison; son, Larry Paul Jones; daughter, Wanda Stockton; and brother, Verner English.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Derryl Breazeale, Peachtree Corners, GA, Petrina and Paul DeKoster of Charlotte, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Frances Jones, and David and Alicia Jones, both of Demorest; son-in-law, Jimmy Stockton of Demorest; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel in Demorest, with Rev. Keith Allison officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour on Saturday, November 21, 2015.
