Victor Claude Massey

Dr. Victor Claude Massey, age 84 of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Dr. Massey was born on August 8, 1931, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Victor Claude Massey, Sr. and Maxine Hylton Massey.  He was a retired teacher who taught at Blue Mountain College, Truett McConnell College, North Georgia College, and the White County School System.  He was also a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years.  Dr. Massey received his BA degree from Stetson University in Deland, Florida, his MEd degree from the University of Georgia, and his ThD degree from New Orleans Baptist Seminary.

Always a scholar, he had studied 8 different languages and truly enjoyed studying and teaching.  He loved people and enjoyed giving to them.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Massey, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and Danny Winder, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Nathan Winder and Clayton Winder, Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Sara Rea; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jo and Dexter Bostick and Betty and Billy Coleman; caregiver, Helen Head; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Cleveland First Baptist Church.  The Rev. Bucky Erwin and the Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
