Carl Eugene (Gene) Garrison, age 88, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 13, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Lilburn with Rev. Paul Garrison and Rev. Hayward Tomblin officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta with Rev. Hugh Roberts officiating.
A native of Atlanta, Mr. Garrison was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Southern Bell after 45 years of service and helped his wife in her catering and food service business where he became known as "The Ice Cream Man". Gene was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Task Force Patriot and was a member of Jackson Hill Baptist Church in Atlanta for 70 years where he was a deacon and Treasurer.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeanette A. Garrison of Lawrenceville; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Paul and Lisa Garrison of Toccoa; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Oliver of Lawrenceville, Carol and Rev. Hayward Tomblin of Ft. Worth, TX and Beth and Tim Sweat of McDonough; grandchildren, Mary (John) Whitworth, David (Rebekah) Garrison, Katherine (Jermaine Bailey) Oliver, Jonathan Oliver, Sarah Oliver, Samuel (Lauren) Tomblin, Hannah (Jacob) McGee, Laura (Donald) Pope, Ryan Sweat, Ashlynn Thompson, Miranda Sweat and Carrie Thompson; 12 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, (770) 564-2726.
