Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs.Vernell Gittens Phillips, age 91 of Hoschton, Georgia who entered into rest Monday, November 9, 2015. Mrs. Phillips was born in Hoschton, Georgia the daughter of the late Tracey and Lola Reynolds Gittens, was a homemaker and a member of White Plains Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips is preceded by her husband Odell Phillips, and a sister, Jeanette Hosch.
Survivors include four daughters; Barbara Ellington and her husband David of Winder, Kathryn Batchelor and her husband Bobby of Watkinsville, Dorothy Henson Brown and her husband David of Cleveland, Pat Cohen and her husband Carl of Gainesville. Two sons, Larry Dean Phillips and his wife Joyce of Braselton, Garey Phillips of Cleveland. Sisters, Sybil Maloch Phillips of Jefferson and a brother Tyson Gittens of Dawsonville. Fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Anderson officiating with burial to follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen honored as pallbearers; Lance Phillips, Austin Phillips, Tim Batchelor, Ben Phillips, Nick Batchelor and Marcus Seymour. The visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00-11:00am at the funeral home, prior to the service.
