Gloria Dean Pethel, age 82 of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Chris Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pethel was born in Jackson County to the late J. Henry Taylor and Tressie Duncan Taylor. She was a member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and mother. She was dedicated to her Christian faith since early childhood, and was very active in the church until the decline of her health.
Mrs. Pethel was a graduate of Gainesville High School and attended Trevecca Nazarene College. She worked as a librarian early in life and went to work for Chicopee Mills and later for Dundee Mills. She was known as a wonderful cook and enjoyd reading. She touched the lives of many people in her family, work and church activities. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Mrs. Pethel is survived by her husband, Bill Pethel of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Melissa Pethel of Gainesville; sisters, Betty Bryan of Deer Park, Washington and Ann Taylor of Gainesville and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
