Henry Lewis Evans

Obituary Date: Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Henry Lewis Evans, age 90 of Cumming, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015.  Henry was the 6th of 8 children born to Roscoe and Maude Evans and lived all his live in Forsyth County, in the Ducktown Community. He was proud to have served in the United States Army during WWII. Henry was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. He was part owner/operator of Evans Service Station, Evans Paving and HLBE Enterprise.

 

Henry was preceded in death by his sisters, Annelle Grogan and Irene Nelson;  brothers, Roy Evans, Toy Evans, R.W. Evans, Eugene Evans; brother-in-law, Jack Carnes.

 

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 70 years, Louise Carnes Evans; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ronnie Echols; grandchildren, Kenny and wife Michelle Echols, Sonya and husband Scott Bennett; great grandchildren, Evan, Parker, and Hadley Echols, Mackenzie Bennett; brother and sisters-in-law, Bob and Sue Evans, Sarah Evans, Mary Carnes all of Cumming; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6th at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Purcell, Rev. Jerry Grogan, Rev. Joey Wallace and Benny Grogan officiating. Interment will follow in New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:30 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am until hour of the service.
