Patricia Anne Knight Peck, age 90 of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, November 03, 2015 following an extended illness.
Born on the family farm known as “Pinedale” in Clarkesville, Georgia on July 31, 1925, Patricia was a daughter of the late Floyd S. & Eula Evelyn Gibbs Knight. She was homeschooled from an early age, attended Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, graduated from Lincoln Memorial University, and later earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Virginia in 1952. Patricia taught preschool, kindergarten, 1st,& 2nd grades in Virginia and West Virginia. She retired in North Carolina and moved back to Georgia in 2002.
Patricia grew up as a Southern Baptist and was active in the Clarkesville Baptist Church all through her youth. She joined the United Methodist Church as an adult and served God in various capacities at the Cross Lanes United Methodist Church of West Virginia, Darlington United Methodist Church of West Virginia, Orange United Methodist Church of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and finally as a member of the Cornelia United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant daughter, Jeannie Peck, brothers, H. Brantley Knight, John M. Knight, Stanley J. Knight, and a sister, Carol C. Knight.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Dr. David W. Peck of Demorest, GA; daughter, Dr. Lorna P. Charles of Summit, New Jersey; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Peck of Sulphur, Oklahoma; Dr. Eric (Susanna) Peck of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Dr. Grace Charles, Nicholas Charles, both of Summit, New Jersey; Andrew, Daniel, & Michael Peck, all of Olathe, Kansas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Orman (Reggie) Knight, Charles (Elaine) Knight, all of Clarkesville, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Bonnette of Cleveland, GA; Florence “Jackie” Eastham of Cornelia, GA; Brenda (Charles) Graham of Cairo, GA; Suzanne (Bill) Dover of Clarkesville, GA; sisters-in-law, Julia Knight of Clarkesville, GA; Helen Knight of Atlanta, GA ; twenty-six nieces & nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 07, 2015 at the Cornelia United Methodist Church with Dr. Jay Hughes officiating.
A time of remembrance will also be held on Saturday following the service at Pinedale, 582 Hollywood Highway, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523 for all family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, November 06, 2015.
