Mrs. Edna Hardy Gowder, age 80, of Maysville, GA died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospice House. Mrs. Gowder was born in Lincolnton, NC to the late W.E. and Ola Craven Meeks. She was a member of Mayville Baptist Church and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Hardy.
Mrs. Hardy is survived by her second husband, Bill Gowder of Maysville; daughters, Donna Thompson of Winterville, Robin Kennedy of Commerce and Kim Lamb of Calhoun; sons, Jeff Gowder of Homer, Keith Gowder of Fairplay, SC and David Gowder of Maysville; sisters, Peggy Gordon of Commerce and Mildred Sailors of Orange Park, FL; brothers, James Meeks of Maysville and Billy Meeks of Lula; fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Sunday, November 1 at Maysville Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Hardy officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice House, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604 or Cody Gowder Memorial Scholarship, 11253 South Hwy 11, Westminster, SC 29693 in memory of Mrs. Edna Gowder.
