Hugh N Bishop

     Mr. Hugh N. Bishop age 89 of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday October 27, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

                Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday October 29, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Earl Pirkle will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday October 29, 2015 from 12:00- 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

                Mr. Bishop was born on May 27, 1926 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Cora Nichols Bishop. He was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Cargill where he worked as a supervisor. He served in the United States Navy, during that time he served on the following vessels, NRS, NTS, USS Proteus (AS19), USS Fulton, Adv. Ntsch Treasure Island, US Submarine, USS Bushnell, Com Subs Pac Admin, USS Halibut, USS Sperry, and USS Apollo. He was also awarded Ships Cook Second Class, Asiatic Pacific, Victory medal, and the American Area.  He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Patricia Rose.

                He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nellie McClain Bishop of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Brad Bryson of Gainesville, son, Russell Bishop of Virginia.
