Jessie Mae Hudson Frady

Jessie Mae Hudson Frady, 93 of Mt. Airy, GA, passed away on October 22nd, 2015 at her son’s home in Alto, GA where she has been living during her recent decline. She was born on February 13, 1922 in Anderson, South Carolina to the late Walter Cowen Sr and late Della Arizona Hudson.

Jessie grew up in Anderson, South Carolina. She graduated from The Tamassee DAR School in Tamassee, South Carolina in 1943.  Following high school she resided in Toccoa, GA where she worked at Coats in Clark for a brief period of time before marrying her husband in 1949.

Jessie is widowed by her husband of 52 Years, William Lee Frady. Jessie served as the President of the Foster Parents Association, and spent most of her life as a foster parent. Jessie was also a member of the Tomochichi Chapter of the Daughter’s of American Revolution.  During her service to the Daughter’s of American Revolution, she held numerous local and state DAR chapter chairmanships and offices.  She served as the GSDAR Northeast Georgia District director and served three terms as Regent of the Tomochichi Chapter.  Jessie was also a devout Sunday school teacher of both adult and children’s classes at Clarkesville Baptist Church in Clarkesville, GA. Jessie loved working in her vegetable garden with her husband and planting flowers in her yard with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.

Jessie is survived by her children, Dr. Robert L. Frady and wife Deborah  of Alto, Ga.;  Richard Frady and wife Sally of Hartwell, Ga.; and Deborah Brown and husband Paul Brown of Mt. Airy, Ga.; and her foster daughter Livia “Jane” Henslee of Gainesville. Ga. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Matthew Vance Frady of Toccoa, Ga.: Allison Nissen and husband Thor of Smyrna, Ga.; Lindsay Thomas and husband Adam of Alto, Ga.; and Jessica Furst and husband John of Buford, Ga.  She will be greatly missed by her surviving Great grandchildren: Holden and JW Thomas, and Graham and Reid Nissen.  Her surviving siblings include Joseph Earnest Hudson of Toccoa, Ga.; Rev. Albert Hudson of Mt. Airy, Ga.; Paul Hudson of Athens, Ga.; Dorothy Anderson of Toccoa, Ga.; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her siblings Calvin Hudson, Rev. Walter Cowan Hudson, Edward Hudson, Trudy Hallford, and Oliva Patterson.

The visitation will be held at Acree Davis Funeral Home 90 S. Pond St Toccoa, GA on Sunday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.. The funeral service will be held at Clarkesville Baptist Church 1287 Washington St. Clarkesville, GA 30523 on Monday at 2 P.M. with the Reverend David Turner, The Reverend Albert Hudson and The Reverend Grady Walden officiating burial will follow the at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery 2175 Antioch Church Rd Mt. Airy, GA 30563. Pallbearers include:  Vance Frady, Talmadge Frady, Dennis Massengill, Paul Hudson, Lewis Hudson, and Raymond Hudson.
