Dr. Huey David Perry, age 78 of Clarkesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
Dr. Perry was born on December 12, 1936 in Fruithurst, Alabama, to the late Emerson L. and Lola Hogan Perry. He was also preceded in death by his brother, O. E. Perry. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cornelia, where he was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class, taught Sunday school, was chairman of the Personnel Committee and past vice-president of Prime Timers. Dr. Perry received a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee Temple College, a Master’s Degree from Southwestern Seminary and his Doctorate Degree from New Orleans Theological Seminary. He served as interim pastor in 10 different churches. Dr. Perry served as Minister – Chaplain with Southern Baptist North American Mission Board with 25 years of service. He also served as pastor in 3 different states, Florida, Texas and Mississippi. Dr. Perry also headed up the chaplaincy correctional program in the state of Florida. He also did volunteer work in many organizations in the area.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Donna McLean Perry, Clarkesville, GA; daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Perry, Oxford, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah and Scott Mildenhall, Dahlonega, GA; sister, Robbie Jean Triggs, Clinton, MS; brothers, Rev. Bobby Charles Perry, Gulf Port, MS, Jerry Mac Perry, Florence, MS, Rev. Randall Hogan Perry, Waco, TX; grandchildren, Rachel Tolliver, Jessica Tolliver, Katya Mildenhall, Jack Mildenhall, Margot Mildenhall, and Benjamin Mildenhall; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Cornelia, with Dr. Eric Spivey, Rev. David Turner and Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015.
