Joseph “Joe” Edwin Holland

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Edwin Holland, age 85 of Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.

A son of the late James Ernest and Sylvia Clark Holland, he was born September 26, 1930 in Greenville, South Carolina and lived most of his life in Stephens County, Georgia especially loving the Ayersville Community.  He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran having served as an MP.  He ran Holland’s grocery in the Ayersville community and delivered fresh produce to the surrounding areas.  He worked for Toccoa Furniture Factory, Letourneau and later retired from Coats and Clark as a machinist for over 25 years.  He was a member and Deacon of Sunnyside Baptist Church.  He delivered Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Woodmen of the World.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alline Hollifield Holland of 41 years in 1992 and by his second wife, Jessie Isbell Holland of 20 years in 2014 and by a brother, Donald Lewis Holland.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Wayne Miller of Lavonia, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Jan Holland of Lavonia, Georgia; step-son, Ralph Kellar and his wife Sara of Greenville, South Carolina; grandchildren,  Leigh Ann Miller, Daniel and Angela Miller, Eddie and Misty Holland, Chuck and Braden Holland, Walt and Kayla Holland; step-grandchildren, Andrea and Joe Engle, Allison and Matt Lenhardt; great-grandchildren, Alera and Ralen Holland, Becca Holland, Cahlil Holland; step-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah and Olivia Engle; sister-in-law, Gertrude Holland; number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 25, 3 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Dr. Roy Rogers, The Reverend Dr. Jesse Colbert, Mr. Eddie Holland, Mr. Walt Holland and Mr. Chuck Holland officiating.

The following will serve as pallbearers: David Rogers, Danny Rogers, Doug Hollifield, Jay Foster, Daniel Miller, Eddie Holland, Walt Holland, Chuck Holland and Leigh Ann Miller. 

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:30 PM until the service time.  The family wishes to thank Wilkinson and Clary Centers, Pruitt Health Toccoa Rehab and Pruitt Health Hospice for their care.
