Thomas Edwin McKinzey

         Mr. Thomas Edwin McKinzey, age 79 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Willowood Nursing Home following an extended illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Mike Taylor and Reverend Joe Vernon will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 4 - 8 pm at the funeral home.

            Mr. McKinzey was born December 16, 1935 in Flowery Branch, Georgia to the late M. Thurman McKinzey and Helen Bagwell McKinzey.  He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.  Edwin spend all his life in Hall County working beside his father on the farm.  Edwin always took time out of each day to ride his bicycle through the neighborhood country side to visit neighbors and loved ones.  He would always visit the sick and shut ends.  Edwin loved to attend his church regularly and on his bicycle he would deliver Church Bulletins to his neighbors.  He was loved by everyone and was often invited into their homes.  Edwin will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.

            Mr. McKinzey is survived by his brother & sister-in-law, James & Jeanette McKinzey of Flowery Branch, his brother, Michael McKinzey of Flowery Branch, nieces & husbands, Karen & Billy Cagle of Flowery Branch and Sandi & Wesley Colston of Kite, Georgia, nephew & wife, James A. “Tony” & Tracy McKinzey of Utopia, Texas, great-niece, Elizabeth Colston, great-nephews, Bryan (Haley) Cagle, Brent (Faith) Cagle, Blake (Breana) Cagle, John Wesley Colston and Samuel Colston and 4 great-great-nieces.

            Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Flat Creek Baptist Church, 5504 Flat Creek Road, Gainesville, GA 30504.
