Mary Pauline "Polly" Newton Hester

Mary Pauline “Polly” Newton Hester, 86, of Gainesville passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Oxton Place.

                Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Georgia National Cemetery. Tim Hester and Minister Ron Cope will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 19, 2015, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

                Mrs. Hester was born on June 10, 1929 in Tuscumbia, AL to the late Marcus Newton and Virgie McKenzie Newton. She was a head start teacher and a member of Chestnut Mountain Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruby Sockwell and Betty Horrocks; brother, James Newton.

                Mrs. Hester is survived by her husband of 66 years, Uel Z. Hester Jr., of Gainesville; daughter, Sharon Reeves of Madison, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Nancy Hester of Decatur, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Chuck Wilson of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jeremy Reeves, Bridget Parr, Graham Hester, Laura Hester and Wesley Wilson; great grandchildren, Lyla Parr, Katie Parr and Lillie Reeves; brother, Russell Newton of Houston, TX; sister, Jean Jackson of Austin, TX.

                In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory be made to the Chestnut Mountain Church of Christ Building Fund, post office box 7450, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.
