Ruth Bellamy Barrett, age 81 of Alto, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015.
Born in Banks County on May 16, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Emmitt Pierce and Gladys Bell McDuffie Bellamy. Mrs. Barrett was a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills with over 30 years of service. She enjoyed yard sales, yard work and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy James Barrett; son, Kenneth James Barrett; brothers, James, C.T. and Roger Bellamy; sisters, Patsy Elaine Trotter and JoAnn Coker.
Surviving are grandchildren, Deven and Foster Barrett both of Maysville; sisters, Shirley Wilkinson and Mary Frances “Francine” Ward both of Cornelia; brothers, Bob Bellamy of Baldwin and Buck Bellamy of Mt. Airy; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 3 pm Monday, October 19, 2015, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Daniel Parker, Rev. Jerrell Beatty and Chad Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
