Mrs. Ola Belle Gilleland Palmer, lovingly known as “Nannie”, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at her home following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Palmer was born in Hall County, GA December 29, 1921 and had lived in Dahlonega most of her life.
She retired from North Georgia College and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dahlonega, GA.
She was the daughter of the late Sam and Chester Cochran Gilleland and was also preceded in death by her husband, J.N “Jake” Palmer; four infant children, Dorothy, Homer, Johnny, and Charles Palmer ;granddaughter, Lori Ramsey; brothers, Y.D., Robert, Frank, J.T, and Johnny Gilleland; sisters, Irene Fortner and Vera Cochran.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Hayden Stancil, Dahlonega, GA; brother, G.H. Gilleland, Dahlonega, GA; sister, Rosa Lee Hill, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Rick and Katie Stancil, Hiawassee, GA, Tracy and Kip Porter, Columbia, SC, Mark and Teresa Stancil, Cumming, GA, Mike and Becky Ramsey, Dahlonega, GA; great-grandchildren, Kevin and Mary Beth Carlisle, Jennifer Ramsey, Robin and Thad Hulsey, Joseph and Savannah Ramsey, Kaelyn Carlisle, Stephanie and Alan Slaughter, Sam Porter, Hayden Porter, Ashton Stancil, Hayden Stancil, and Aaron Stancil. 11 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, October 16, 2015 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Allen Passmore will officiate.
Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega, GA.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 4 PM until 9 PM and again on Friday until service time.
