Henry Willis Byrd

Henry Willis Byrd, 91, of Dawsonville passed away Monday October 5, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born June 10, 1924 in Dawson County to the late Charlie and Sarah Byrd, he lived in Atlanta several years before returning to Dawson County 42 years ago.  Mr. Byrd owned and operated a commercial real estate appraisal firm, Byrd Appraisal Service.  He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred McAdams; and brothers, George Byrd, Marvin Byrd, and Robert Edward “Bob” Byrd.

Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Violet Byrd, Dawsonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 7, 2015 at 2 o’clock at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 o’clock.  Dr. Charles Blackstock will officiate.  Private interment services will be held in the Byrd Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
