Herby Ray Sullens, age 75, of Dawsonville, GA (Lumpkin County), passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his home following a period of declining health.
Ray lived most of his life in Lumpkin County. He did grading and construction work and was a member of the Church of the Almighty God in Lumpkin County.
He was the son of the late Vernon and Lula Peck Sullens and was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Sullens; sisters, Dorothy Lingerfelt and JoAnn Hughes; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Sullens.
Ray is survived by his wife, Isabel Brooksher Sullens, Dawsonville, GA; children and spouses, David and Dana Sullens, Dahlonega, GA, Vernon Sullens, Dawsonville, GA, Greg and Sandy Butler, Dahlonega, GA, Janet and Jimmy Allison, Betsy Sullens, Dahlonega, GA, Shannon and Mike Fraser, Gainesville, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, William F. and Joyce Sullens, Dawsonville, GA, Odum Sullens, Dawsonville, GA; Bobby and Sandy Sullens, Brooksville,. FL, Billy and Nancy Sullens, Gainesville, GA; Stanley and Pyong Sullens, Macon, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Claude Trammell, Dawsonville, GA, Veronia Castleberry, Dawsonville, GA, Geraldine McKinney, Dahlonega, GA, Pattie Hester, Stockbridge, GA, and Betty Mason, Dahlonega, GA. 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Ray are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Bnister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Corey Ray will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 2 PM until 9 PM and again on Tuesday until service time.
