Julia Catherine Schutte

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Julia Catherine Schutt, age 94 of Clermont.
 
Mrs. Schutt passed away Monday, September 28, 2015. A celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Friday, October 2, 2015 at Cleveland First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andy Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 to 1 pm.
 
She was born in Dearing, Georgia and moved to Evans at age 10. In Evans, her father was the overseer of a large farm and Julia  attended  Evans Primary School, where she walked two miles each way. When her family moved to Augusta, she rode the school bus for the first time to attend Tubman High School. After high school, Julia attended Toccoa Falls College and completed a two year business course. She returned home to Augusta after graduation and worked for a brokerage company. Her other jobs included filing charts in a hospital records room and working with disabled children. She met her husband, Arthur Schutt, while he was based in Augusta with the military. He later served overseas in  World War II, then returned to marry Julia. The two of them then moved to Chicago, where they had three children. The family moved to Miami, Florida  and spent the next 25 years there before  moving to Atlanta upon retirement. Art passed away in 1989, and Julia moved to live with her daughter in 2000.
 
Julia is survived by her son and wife, Louis and Robin Schutt of Clermont; daughters and sons in law, Julie and Everett Stephens of Stone Mountain and Virginia and Jim Crawford of Clermont, brother and sister in law, George and Esther Dunaway; grandchildren, Brian and Stacey Stephens,Cheryl and John Annarelli, Jim and Jill Crawford Jr., Ryan and Shelia Retting, Tammy and Jamie Smith; great grandchildren include Alyssa, Sophia, Zachary, Lilli, Rylee, Bryce, Julia, Emma and Dane.
 
Flowers will be acknowledged, however it is requested that memorial donations be made to Cleveland First Presbyterian Church, 147 North Main St., Cleveland, Georgia 30528.
