Willie C. Thurmond

Miss Willie C. Thurmond, age 86, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by family.
 
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2015 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Walnut Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. David Matthews and Rev. Ricky Thrasher will officiate.  The family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
 
Miss Thurmond was born February 4, 1929 to the late James Edward & Rosa Bowles Thurmond in Pendergrass.  She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and worked at Chicopee Manufacturing for 45 years.  Being the last surviving member of her family, Miss Thurmond was preceded in death by her brothers, James M. Thurmond and Bryson Thurmond; sisters, Josephine Thurmond, Runelle Luther, Latrelle Gilliland, Inez Garner, Eddie Mae Hogan and Gayress Spain.  She is survived by a host of nieces & nephews; caregiver, Fran Reed; and her beloved cat, Meow-meow.
