Floyce Wright Mallory

Obituary Date: Friday, September 25, 2015

Floyce Wright Mallory, age 86, of Cornelia, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 following an extended illness.  At her transition to the Other World, she was surrounded by those that cared for her most.

Born in Habersham County on September 5, 1929, she was a daughter of the late William Luther and Vallie Jane Patton Wright. Mrs. Mallory was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church, where she was the church’s first secretary and instrumental in establishing the administrative processes that are still used to this day.  She attended Level Grove Baptist Church for many years until her passing. She retired from Chicopee Manufacturing with more than 32 years of dedicated service in quality control.

Mrs. Mallory was a 1948 graduate of Cornelia High School. Prior to entering high school she achieved Valedictorian status in her education endeavors. Upon graduation she attended Business College in Atlanta. In her spare time, Mrs. Mallory enjoyed sewing and was passionate about her organizational skills. She was best known by her family for the valued love, respect, and compassion that she displayed while care giving for her family during their illnesses, always selflessly giving of her time to help.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Copeland; brothers, Lawrence, William Amos, Carvin T., Vermon Wright and a brother who died at childbirth.  Further she was proceded in death by nieces Donna Gail Wright and Patsy Rudeseal,  nephew Wilburn Wright, grand-nephew Kevin Bruce Wright and beloved sisters-in law and brothers-in-law.

She is survived by one son, Jim Mallory of Dallas, Texas; beloved sisters, Lucille Rudeseal of Cornelia and Reba Barry of Milton, Florida, scores of loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand nephews as well as her “beauty shop friends.” Lastly, she is survived by her adopted family of choice in Dallas Texas and New York City.  She made an indelible imprint on the lives of those adopted family members and enjoyed admiration, respect, honor and love that surpassed that which is typically found with “adopted families.”

Funeral services are 2 pm Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Level Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Brian James officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
