Katharine Miller Neuhaus, 92, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away suddenly on September 24, 2015 while visiting family in Clermont, GA. She was the wife of the late Charles Neuhaus, Sr.
Born in Kearny, NJ on July 9, 1923, she was the daughter of late James and Katharine Duncan. Katharine was a graduate of Kearny High School and Tri-County Tech (Anderson, SC).
Katharine lived and worked in Boston, MA, before marrying Charles and raising three sons in NJ. Later, she and Charles opened their home to foster children. Her passion for helping kids lead her to a career as a literacy volunteer and teacher lasting well into her 80’s. Always on the move, Katharine lived many places including NJ, MA, SC, FL, and CO, and loved travel, especially to her ancestral homeland of Scotland. She devoted countless hours to genealogical research of the Neuhaus and Duncan family trees. Katharine will be remembered for her sense of humor, life-long friendships, and insatiable curiosity.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years and by her son Charles Neuhaus, Jr., of Marlborough, MA. She is survived by sons James E. Neuhaus, of Clermont, GA, and Herbert J. Neuhaus, of Colorado Springs, CO, daughters-in-law Roberta, Jean, and Deborah, grandchildren James, Martin, John, Kimberly, Sophia, Nicholas, Katharine, and Kara, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Katharine will rest beside her husband at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, FL. A Memorial Service will be held in Florida in November, and additional information will be posted at www.littledavenport.com.
