Dedicated Wife, Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great and Great-Great Grandmother Dorothy "Dott" Standridge Dorsey, age 94, of Gainesville passed into God's hands on September 25, 2015. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and charity!
Dorothy was born in Hall County and was united in marriage to Samuel Eugene Dorsey on July 29, 1937, and was 3 months shy of celebrating her 60th anniversary when her husband passed in 1997. She retired from Chicopee Manufacturing and was a member of Chicopee United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Branson and Lona Staton Standridge and Lillie Farmer Standridge, husband, Eugene Dorsey, brothers, Dewey, Ben, Talmer, Fred, Bud, Howard Standridge, William Farmer and sister, Ruth Rogers.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Nicole Dorsey, Indiana, daughter -in-law Elizabeth Lindsey, grandchildren, Wesley and Crystal Dorsey, Philip and Angeleigh Dorsey, Kathie and Jeff Thompson, great grandchildren, Nora Collins, Hana Dorsey, Philip Dorsey, Patrick Dorsey, Samantha Thompson, Jeffrey N. Thompson II, great great grandchildren, Alayna Collins, Kelsie Collins, River Crawford, sisters, Jane Brown, Cleveland, Vera Garrett, Gillsville, Fannie Lou Head, Dahlonega, brother, J.D. Farmer, Cleveland, sisters-in-law, Louise Standridge, Clermont, Ethelene Dorsey, Gainesville, and special nephew, Andrew House.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday October 2, 2015 at Chicopee United Methodist Church. The Rev. Susan Maddox and Rev. J. Michael Pinson will officiate. The body will lie-in-state from 1 :30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m at the church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
