Otis Edgar Buffington

Otis Edgar Buffington, 82, of Gainesville passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born on September 10, 1933 in Hall County, he was the son of the late O.D. and Lottie B. Buffington. He was a veteran of the United States Army in 101 Signal Cor. Serving in the Korean War, he survived Pork Chop Hill and received 2 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal. He left the Army with the rank of SGT.  Otis traveled the world with his job visiting many countries including Russia, India, Japan, Egypt and Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, Otis is preceded in death by his sister, Mamie Fauscett.

He was dearly loved by his family.

Otis is survived by his sister, Ara Palmer of Oakwood; niece, Debbi Demarest of Oakwood; nephews, Wayne Fauscett of Milledgeville, Steve Palmer of Keystone Heights, FL, Jeff Palmer of Oakwood; great nieces, Natasha Palmer of San Francisco, CA, Kathy Fauscett of Gainesville, Ginger Fauscett Gibbs of Columbus, OH; great nephews, Nathan Fauscett of Gainesville, Michael Leathers of Oakwood, Stevie Palmer of Keystone Heights, FL, Justin Palmer of Braselton, Jeffrey Palmer of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Joel Palmer of Lawrenceville, Joshua Palmer of Oakwood; great-great nieces, Evelyn Leathers of Oakwood, Natalie and Jesse Palmer of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Margeux Palmer of San Francisco, Ansley and Charlotte Fauscett of Gainesville; great-great nephews, Jaxon Palmer of Braselton, Brantley Palmer of Ft. Campbell, KY, Thomas Palmer of San Francisco and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Gary Osteen will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
