Verla L. Deaton

Verla L. Deaton, 89, of Oakwood passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service.

               Mrs. Deaton was born on July 3, 1926 in White County, Tennessee to the late Landon Simmons and Lora Bennett Simmons. She was retired from J.C. Penney and a member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Perry A Deaton and 9 siblings.

               Mrs. Deaton is survived by her husband, James Deaton of Oakwood; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Keith Handran of Gainesville; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
