John Burke

John C. Burke age 92, of Cleveland passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Mountain View Nursing Home.

Mr. Burke was born on March 30, 1923, in Helen, Georgia, to the late Wilborn Linton and Mae Julia Russell Burke.  He worked in construction and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.  Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Gertrude Burke; son, Johnny Burke; sisters, Mary Lou Westmoreland, Nora Anderson, Laraine Canup; brothers, Wilborn Burke, Douglas Burke, Gene Burke, Bill Burke.

Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jerry Vandiver, Gainesville; daughter, Wanda Burke, Baldwin; grandchildren, Tony and Tina Vandiver, Tracy and Chris McConnell, Chris and Leah Burke, Jenny Massey, Jaci Wright, Sharon Wright, Christie Queene; great grandchildren, Abby Loggins, AJ Vandiver, Annabeth Vandiver, Gavin McConnell, Emily McConnell, Karlie Burke, Linsey Burke, Gracelyn Massey, Jamieson Massey; sister, Jenny Brooks; sister-in-law, Annie Lee Cathey.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:30 P.M. Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.  The Rev. Michael Wilkes and the Rev. Bob Prim will officiate.  Interment will follow at Yonah View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
