Hugh Hamilton Gibbs, Jr., age 90 of Cornelia, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Habersham County on April 1, 1925, he was a son of the late Hugh Hamilton Gibbs, Sr. and the late Maggie Berrong Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs was a farm equipment salesman and member of Level Grove Baptist Church. He was also a cattle farmer and a previous member of the Cattleman’s Association.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Grant Gibbs; daughters, Ann LaPorto and Becky Powers; sister, Kathryn Hogsed.
Surviving are son, Ronnie Gibbs of Cornelia; sister, Evelyn Dalton of the Hollingsworth Community; grandchildren, Kevin, Leslie, & Amy Gibbs, Casey Powers, and Amanda Lewallen; great grandchildren, Devany, Tyler, Corey, Cassie, and Lauren.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Terry Rice and Rev. Hal Cason officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Monday.
