George E. Payne, 81, of Cumming, GA, passed away September 11, 2015 at home following an extended illness.
He was born April 15, 1934, in WV, a son of the late John D. Payne and Ida Payne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Payne (1961-2002); his wife Phyllis Payne (2003-2007); and his sister, Ann Thompkins of Florida.
He was retired from United American and Liberty National Insurance of Teays Valley, West Virginia. Previous employments included being self-employed with Napa Auto Parts in Barboursville and Kenova, West Virginia, and Top Value Stamps. He was a Masonic member. He was with the United States Army serving from 1957 to 1960. George attended West Virginia University.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Payne; one son, Gregory E. Payne of Cumming, GA.; one daughter, Lisa A. Stout of Bluffton, SC; granddaughters, Carly Payne, and Greylin Payne of Cumming, GA; Kendall Stout, and Kailee Stout of Bluffton, SC. Also surviving are his brothers John Payne, and David Payne, and his sister Ruth Dunning.
George was a member of Cumming Baptist Church of Cumming, GA and was previously a serving member of First Baptist Church in Hurricane, West Virginia for over 40 years.
Funeral services will be at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming at 2:00 pm on Monday September 14th. Friends may call from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home. George will be laid to rest beside his wife, Joyce at Valley View Memorial Park in Hurricane, WV.
