Verlin Lee Byers age 63 of Commerce passed away Wednesday Sept. 9, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Byers was born April 23, 1952 in Hayesville, N.C. to the late Frank & Katie Painter Byers. He was self- employed in the construction industry and was of the Baptist Faith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Valarie Vanderford & Crystal Stephens.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorinda Gay Byers of Commerce, son, Eugene Byers of Commerce, brothers, Terry Lee Byers of Maysville, Paul George Byers of Maysville, Frank Lee Byers of Ohio, sisters, Shirley Brownlee of Lawrenceville & Lois Jean Henson of Cornelia, 4 grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Taylor Byers, Daniel Vanderford, & Kevin Vanderford, 2 special nephews, Bristol & Bryson Banister, & a number of nieces & nephews and other relatives also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Anglin officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Shadowlawn Cemetery in Lawrenceville.
