Mrs. Pearle Smith Carter Collins, age 82, departed this life on September 7, 2015 at her residence
A daughter of the late Judge Jay and Ella Howell Smith, she was born November 3, 1933 in Fair Play, South Carolina. She was a retired bookkeeper, providing many years of service to both Acree Oil Company and Carter Construction Company. She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Gateway Community Chapel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Glenn Maurice Carter.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband Robert Collins of Toccoa; daughter, Glenda Carter Stidham; grandson, Benjamin Carter Stidham, Esq.; sister, Juddie Watkins; step-daughters, Allyson Aull and her husband Larry and Julie Harrison and her husband Kevin; step-granddaughters, Suzanne Sharpe, Taylor Still and her husband T.J.; step-grandson, Alex Aull; and several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 10, 1 O’clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Don Scott and The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bobby Watkins, Richard Llewellyn, Jackie Whitmire, Bruce Childs, Larry Aull and Kevin Harrison.
The family will be at the home on Cherokee Boulevard and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 PM until 8 PM.
Interment will be in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Pearle Smith Carter Collins.
