On Labor Day (September 7), as the sun set. Margie Nell Colbert age 97 of Gainesville departed this earthly home to her heavenly reward. She was surrounded by her 4 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nanny was born the 10th of August, 1918 in Banks County on her beloved grandfather's farm (Richard Venable Dodd). She worked at Bell Aircraft during World War II as a Rosie The Revitar on B-29 bombers. She worked and retired from J.D. Jewells. She was a very active member of The Assembly of God Church in Gainesville. She enjoyed singing in the church and she walked nearly everyday. Margie Nell was a wonderful cook, she always welcomed everyone to eat and she loved everybody.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Radar Dodd Turner, husband Fred Colbert, children Betty Ann, Richard Emerson., brothers, Lestser, Clyde, Benny and James Turner, sisters, Altheda, Winnie, Joyce and Imogene.
Survivors include, daughters, Jeanette, Mere, (twins) Linda and Brenda (Husband Fred Powell), grandchildren, Rich (Wife Debbie), Dustin, Kelli, Dane and John, great grandchildren, Lauren, Bailey, Laney, Daniell, great great grandchildren, Mason, Clayton, Alex, Ethan, Adeline and Charlie (4th Generation), brother, Roy.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at The Oaks at Limestone, Dr. Gene Westmoreland, Dr. Shane Bussler and the wonderful care from the North Tower 5th floor staff, including Hospice Care.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 9, 2015 at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bill and Jean Surrell will officiate. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Historical Cemetery 1636 Mud Creek Road Mt. Airy, GA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
