Frances Kaye Root, 76, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, September 1, 2015 at her home in Flowery Branch, Georgia, with her family by her side.
She was born on September 4, 1939 in Brandon, Mississippi, the oldest child of Dr. C.M. Burnham & Annie Lee Bills Burnham, who preceded her in death.
Kaye graduated from Brandon High School in 1957. She married her High School sweetheart, Jon Root in 1958. In their 57 years of marriage, careers took them to several locations throughout the country. These include Winter Haven, Florida; Orlando, Florida; Springdale, Arkansas; Elberton, Georgia; Covington, Georgia; & presently Flowery Branch, Georgia.
Kaye had a love of family first of all. Some of her favorite things included their dog Georgia, studying her Bible, NFL football, following politics, watching movies & collecting elephant figurines. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia.
She is survived by her husband of the home, Jon Root; her sister Ann Young of Denver, Colorado, three daughters; Stacy (Rick) Seaton of Jefferson City, Missouri, Joni Collins of Little Rock, Arkansas & Lori (Reg) Griffin of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sarah (Roy) Jackson, Rachel Fish, Ryan Collins, Holli Griffin, Abby (Patrick) Coon, Emily Griffin & Ashleigh Collins & 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held by the Memorial Park South Funeral Home & Cemetery in Flowery Branch, Georgia, on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Rick Seaton officiating. Family visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 12:30pm.
