Doyle Edwin "Papa" McQueen

Doyle Edwin “Papa” McQueen, 70, of Murrayville passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

                Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Tom Smiley, Reverend Scott McQueen and Reverend Zak McQueen will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

                Mr. McQueen was born on May 14, 1945 in Gainesville to the late James Ernest McQueen and Mary Elizabeth Anglin McQueen.

                Doyle worked for the Hall County Sheriff’s department for several years before his employment with security at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He later entered into the funeral service where he served many families and friends with honor and dignity.

                Mr. McQueen is survived by his wife of 54 years Libby McQueen of Murrayville; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Paul McGahee of Tifton, GA and Pam and Stoney Taylor of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Scott and Dawn McQueen of Cleveland; special niece (daughter) Richelle Martinez and husband Cruz of Gillsville; grandchildren, Brooks McGahee, JP McGahee, Brianna Pass and husband Nick, Brittany Lee and Husband Seth, Zak McQueen and wife Krystina, Ashlee McQueen, Madison McQueen, Daisy Martinez and Megan Martinez; great grandchildren, Kadence McQueen and Thane Lee; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Cindy McQueen of Lula; nephew, Courtlan McQueen, and his beloved pet, Lucy.

                Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make contributions to The Lighthouse of Prayer Church, 407 Silver Fall Rd. Cleveland, GA 30528 or The American Cancer Society in memory of Doyle, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

                The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff on the fifth floor and ICU at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
