Mr. Jimmy B. Baker, age71, of Nicholson, Georgia went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 27, 2015 at his home due to a work accident.
Jim was born January 9, 1944 in Jackson County, Commerce, Georgia. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1962. He served in the United States Army from June 1965 to June 1967 with a tour of duty in Vietnam. Jim retired in 2007 from Reliance Electric, Athens, Georgia. Jim was a master wood worker, creating many beautiful pieces of furniture for their home and for many others.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Needer Mathis; and grandparents, Boney and Georgia Baker.
Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, Evelyn Carlan Baker of Nicholson; sister, Mae Fitzpatrick of Hull; brother and sister-in-law, Dewey and Lynda Baker of Commerce; a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, August 30 at 3 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Lula, Georgia with Rev. Gene Carlan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 PM.
