George Curtis Trogdon, age 71, passed away on August 25th, 2015, at Hope Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Dacula, GA.
George Curtis Trogdon is survived by his wife, Vickie Allen Trogdon, of Sky Valley, GA; children, Murphy Ayala of Raleigh, NC, Valerie and Sean Dinges of Raleigh, NC, Curt and Carla Trogdon of Dacula, GA, Jennifer and Joseph Eason of Ruther Glen, VA, and Greg and Ginny Trogdon of Dacula, GA; sister, Kay and Neil Hightower; and eight grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Kathryn Trogdon, of Toccoa, GA.
George Curtis Trogdon was born on March 1, 1944 in Toccoa, GA to parents Ray and Kathryn Trogdon. George graduated from Toccoa High School in Toccoa, GA in 1962 and attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. After college, he entered the United States Armed Forces where he served during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of military service, he returned to Toccoa, GA to assume the responsibilities of president of Trogdon Furniture upon his father’s passing. After stepping down from Trogdon Furniture Company, he and longtime friend Dick Lesley opened Toccoa Wood Products where he worked until retirement in 2002.
In December of 1977, George married Vickie and pursued his lifelong dream of living on Lake Rabun. George and Vickie spent the next twenty-eight years on the lake before moving to Sky Valley full-time and routinely visiting their home in Garden City Beach, SC.
George Curtis Trogdon was a great family man and a loving father and grandfather. He was a social, active man who was deeply involved in his community. He served as a director of Stephens Federal Savings and Loan in Toccoa, GA from 1974 to 2013 and on the PruittHealth Hospice Foundation board for over ten years.
Visitation will be at Beck’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center. Reverend Jeremy Lawson and Reverend James Turpin will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate George’s life.
