Berma Jean Wooten Bennett, 85 of Clarkesville, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on September 15, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Walter & Lydia Smith Wooten. Jean worked for over 30 years as a sales clerk for Turpen Drug Store in downtown Clarkesville. She retired at age 70 as an inspector from Ethicon Inc. Jean was a member of the Clarkesville Baptist Church. She enjoyed her flower gardens, watching birds, arts & crafts, and being around children. Although small in stature, Jean had a big heart, always willing to help others in need. She loved her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Faye and Christine Wooten and Ruth Davis; and brother, Raymond Wooten.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Teddy & Reta Bennett of Altus, Oklahoma; Trevor & Treva Bennett; grandson, Elijah Bennett, all of Clarkesville; sisters, Ruby McClain & Hazel Poole, both of Clarkesville; brother, Ted Wooten of Altus, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, special friend & caregiver, Elizabeth Pyron of Demorest.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made in memory of Jean to Toccoa Falls College,
