George Edward Miller
George passed away on the morning of August 17, 2015, at his home in Cumming, Ga. His death was from Parkinson’s and Alzheimers disease. He was 74 years old.
George was born on February 16,1941 in Springfield, Illinois, the first son of Celeste Elizabeth and George William Miller.
He grew up in Springfield, Illinois, attended St. Josephs Catholic grade school, Lanphier High School and graduated from Southern Illinois University. He was employed by Owens Illinois, Rockwell International, The Boeing Company, and retired from Scientific-Atlanta as Director of Contracts.
George’s passion was playing tennis and officiating as a Tennis Umpire for college and high school matches.
George and his wife attended the First Baptist Church of Atlanta until he was physically unable.
George is survived by his brother Robert Lee Miller of Tucson, Az, son Christopher Adam Miller and his wife Pamela of Powell, Ohio, son Dr. Shannon Corey Miller and his wife Julie of Montgomery, Ohio, daughter Eve Noel Smith and her husband David of Medina, Ohio, stepson Chadwick Stanley and his wife Erin of Columbus, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Bridgid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 1:00 pm followed by a reception at the Ballantrae Clubhouse, 2415 Ballantrae Circle, Cumming, Ga.
