Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Caroldene Blackstock McEver, age 87 of Talmo, Georgia who entered into rest Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Mrs. McEver was born in Jefferson, Georgia the daughter of the late Tom and Rena Hooper Blackstock, was a graduate of Martin Institute and Athens Business School, served as a Director of the Jackson County Department of Family and Childrens Services for thirty-five years, a member of the Jackson County Historical Society, was a member of the Talmo Baptist Church where she taught Pre-School Sunday School for thirty years and was very active in the community where she and her family lived. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McEver is preceded in death by a brother Thomas Blackstock.
Survivors include her husband of nearly of seventy years, Robert McEver of Talmo, daughter; Julie Kirksey and her husband Tim of Dacula, son; Chip McEver and his wife Myra of Talmo, sister; Barbara Vandiver of Gainesville. Four grandchildren; Courtney Philips and her husband Phipps, Chris Kirksey and his wife Carol, Mac McEver and his wife Timberlie, Jonathan McEver and his wife Allison. Nine great grandchildren; Hallie, Trey, Jett, Brooks, Hart and Haylen McEver, Caylor and Cooper Philips and Chloe Kirksey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 20, 2015 from the Talmo Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Spence and Reverend Tim Kirksey officiating with burial to follow in the Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Tom, Joe, and John Blackstock, Mark Vandiver, Andrew and Bryan Thompson. Mrs. McEver will be placed in the Church at 1:30. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the Talmo Baptist Church, 475 Main Street, Talmo, Georgia 30575. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 19, 2015, 5-8 P.M..
