Mrs. Ruth (Mamaw) Naomi Roberts Strickland Bray age 89 of Flowery Branch entered the gates of heaven into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday August 14, 2015 at her daughter’s residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday August 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Jentzen Franklin will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 16, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday August 17, 2015 from 11:00-2:00 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bray was born on November 22, 1925 in Gainesville, Ga to the late Enoch Buffington Roberts and Ella Carlee Scott Roberts. She attended Calvary Temple and was retired from Martin’s Menswear where she worked as a master seamstress. Ruth was a strong woman of faith who loved life, especially her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the “love of her life.” Ruth shared her faith through music. She was an accomplished musician who performed in churches, tent revivals, and prayer meetings throughout Georgia and neighboring states. Always armed with her Bible and ready at a minute’s notice to witness about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Edward Lee Strickland Sr.; brothers, Fred, Corbett, Howard, Robert, Grady, Ted, Frank and Leco Roberts; sisters, Novis Craig and Ruby Edge.
Mrs. Bray is survived by her husband, Ferrell “Cotton” Bray of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Lee Strickland Jr. (Kathy) of Homer; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Kersh (Randall) of Flowery Branch; grandsons, Dusty Kersh (Jennifer) of Flowery Branch and Casey Kersh of Lawrenceville; great grandchildren, Boston and Bristol Kersh; sister, Roberta Gailey (Leon) of Gillsville and a number of nieces and nephews.
