Rev. Robert Hamp Freeman, age 82 of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at his residence.
Rev. Freeman was born on July 14, 1933, in Clarkesville, GA, to the late Daniel and Maude Allen Freeman. He was preceded in death by his sons, Ronnie and Donnie Freeman, sister, Elizabeth Sims, and brother, Albert Freeman. Rev. Freeman was a former White County Commissioner, serving in 1973 and 1974, and worked for the White County Road Department from 1954-1994.
Rev. Freeman is a Baptist Minister who pastored Community Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, GA, Community Baptist Church in Sautee, GA as well as Union Grove Baptist Church in Sautee, GA. In addition, he served the community as a radio minister from 1969-1999 and preached as an evangelist at many churches. Rev. Robert Freeman was a member of Blue Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ramey Freeman, Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Christie Freeman, Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Lynn Whitener, Helen, Glenda and John Essigman, Cleveland, and Penny and Glenn Sims, Gillsville; brother, Farrell Freeman, Martinsville, VA; daughters-in-law, Jeanie Freeman and Judy Freeman; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Blue Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Tony Howard, the Rev. Matt Pruitt, and Judge Garrison Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
