Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 16, 2015 at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Thomas “Junior” Irvin age 87 of Gillsville. The Rev. Scott Waters and Rev. Tim House will officiate. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Irvin passed away Friday August 14 at his residence.
Mr. Irvin was born in Jackson County to the late James Thomas Irvin and Emma Holcomb Irvin. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and retired after 30 years from General Motors. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he served as deacon and church clerk for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Martin and brother, James Irvin.
Survivors include wife, Frances T. Irvin, Gillsville, son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sharon Irvin, Buford, daughter, Jeanne Martin, Gillsville, grandchildren, India and Ivy Irvin, Buford, Kaylee Martin, Gillsville.
