Jody Burton

Jody Burton, age 77, of Demorest, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

Born on November 1, 1937, in Clarkesville, Georgia, he was a son of the late Oscar and Hester York Burton.  He was a logger and was a member of Old Nacoochee Baptist Church.  He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Paralee Allen Burton.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Sue Burton of Cleveland, Randy and Kim Burton of Clarkesville and Stanley and Teresa Burton of Cleveland; daughters, Sharon Jones (Stacy) of Clarkesville, Faye Gordon of Lula and Tammy Armour (Ray Sutton) of Demorest; brothers, David Burton and Journey Burton both of Clarkesville; sisters, Mary Jane Franklin of Clarkesville and Winnie Dill of Toccoa; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11 am Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Old Nacoochee Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Trotter, Rev. Kenneth Taylor and Rev. Austin Kelley officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
