James C. “Buddy” Black, 80, of Gainesville passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2015.
A lifetime resident of Hall County, he was born on April 3, 1935. He was the son of the late Tol C. and Ethel Burtz Black. Buddy attended Air Line and Murrayville Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He, along with Ernest Moore, operated Jim Waters Motor Company on Broad Street for many years. He was also owner/operator of Buddy Black Paint and Body Shop. He regularly attended St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 55 years Fannie Jenkins Black of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Larry Farlow of Cumming, Julie and Mark Walls of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Emily, Will and Jim Farlow, Allison and Jonathan Walls; sister, Lucy Stowers of Murrayville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. J.D. Sosebee will officiate. Interment will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
