Selby A. Bearden

  Mr. Selby A. Bearden, age 92 of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Bell Minor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Dr. Tom Smiley, Dr. Jerry Gill and Reverend Don Ormsbee will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 1 - 3 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

            Mr. Bearden was born February 19, 1923 in Acworth, Georgia to the late Arnold Charles Bearden and Kathryn Loveless Bearden.  He served in the U. S. Navy and retired from the U. S. Postal Service.  Selby was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene Allison Bearden and his sister, Nettie Lou Cook.  He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class.

            Mr. Bearden is survived by his children, Selby, Jr. & Marilyn Bearden of Statham, Georgia, Stan & Kathleen Bearden of Gainesville and Brenda & Rick Coker of Murrayville, grandchildren, Tara & Lane Morrow of Monroe, Georgia, Brian & Stacey Bearden of Statham, Georgia, Andrew Bearden, Jordan Bearden, both of Gainesville, Julie Coker of Decatur, Georgia, Brad Coker and Phillip Coker, both of Murrayville, great-grandchildren, Lila Morrow and Levi Morrow, both of Monroe, Georgia and brother, Marvin Bearden.
